City Council Faces Park Deed Return Overdue Deadline

At a Monday meeting Payette’s council, with N A Jacobsen, considers returning the park deed as the donated land sits in escrow after two extensions. A park committee is to oversee plowing, leveling, and tree planting within sixty days while bids are sought for sidewalk construction to be opened next Friday.

Snake River Bridge Construction Begins Near Payette

Minneapolis Steel and Machinery Company foreman G. Bender arrived with a crew to stake the Snake River bridge near Payette. Actual construction started Monday with material arriving and fabrication mostly completed in Minneapolis. The outlook is favorable to rush completion as remaining steel and materials proceed.

Emma Theatre to Present Garcia Musical Comedy Players

Friday and Saturday evenings feature the Garcia Comedy Players a fourteen member eastern company touring to Seattle and returning via Canada. Skaggs Captures Bad Austrian in Weiser Case

A wild sequence ends with an Austrian suspect detained in Weiser after a long pursuit across hills. The man, identified by Sheriff Watters, is accused of assaulting a partner near the old smelter above Weiser and robbing him of $150 and a watch. He was later captured in Russell's Department Store after disguising himself and attempting flight through Fayette and Russell.

Payette Exhibit Wins Prizes at County Fair Show

Payette fruit exhibit, gathered over two to three days, earned numerous premiums at the county fair. Judges noted keen competition and that more fame could be achieved with better gathering next year. Premiums ranged from first on Jonathan and Ortley apples to second on onions and corn, with broad participation across pears, peaches, grains, and vegetables.

Lecture on a Tunisian journey inspires church fundraising

Mrs Charles F Muller spoke to Wheel No 2 of the Presbyterian church on a Tunis trip from Carthage to Sidi Okba via Biskra and Algiers. The illustrated lecture used 100 postcards and a radiopticon, drawing a large audience and raising funds for a new church office.
