Albert Lauer writes from Wirnce April 6 describing long delays, weathered stationery, and letters from Helen Lily and Homer. He notes trenches, prayers at YMAG, and mothers' prayers for their sons, closing with affection and news of a cake and candy.
The notice urges immediate support for the Red Cross drive beginning next Monday. It emphasizes that citizens who paid taxes or contributed before must continue to help, noting soldiers’ sacrifices and urging the town to lead in donations in a single day if possible.
Last Sunday the Presbyterian Church held a poor relief appeal for Armenian starving families. The Sunday School raised 112 dollars plus 4.25 expected, with 98 dollars already donated by members. Evening service next Sunday guest Mr McClanahan will discuss "The Working of the Holy Spirit" while morning topic remains "Can Man Defeat God."

Payette County reports a remaining quota of 12 volunteers after deducting the last call, with 10 men chosen to go and 8 from the prior call already in training. Named volunteers include Tilly B. Ramey, Herbert E. Duncan, Albert H. Mordher, and others. training camp set for around the 25th.
The twenty fourth commencement at Fayette High School was held last Friday in the Christian Church. Senior Class musicians provided music except for one number by the High School Glee Club. University of Idaho President B Lindley gave the evening address on The New Pioneers, contrasting early settlers with modern scholars. Mr C Joseph DeVise and C H Murélead of Rex Spray Co along with F E Seeley inspect the preperite for a five rust crop in the locality and urge spraying for codling moth. They note frost may mask fruit loss but advise early spray to control pests. DeVise will publish a longer article next week on fruit conditions and pest control methods.
Win Crump and Roy Louchrey, though under draft age, enlisted in Bolen Monay after passing examination and were accepted to serve Uncle Sam. Dwight Maule escorted the youths across. Mrs. Maule and daughter Mrs. 2. H. Murphy accompanied them. Dorothy Roberts returned with Dwight and Farley Seed Potatoes, Barry White visiting from the Indien.

Cadets retreat to a camp under military order with tents pitched and regular company routines. The report notes guards at the entrance, demands for authority, and disciplined conduct as cadets observe standard procedures and await entry procedures from headquarters. Also included is Poultry Tuberculosis guidance from the County Agricultural Agent detailing symptoms, diagnosis, and sanitation steps to eradicate the disease from premises.

Mrs. Ray Biles returns to Eagle after visiting Mrs. W. E. Perkins. Local shoppers see new fabrics at Farber’s and deals on coats and skirts. Community events include a WCTU meeting, Oregon Trail Park gathering, and a Payette County Abstract Company opening.
A beige party at the Pearce home honored Chas Pearce Ruby and Hilda Schuitt. Pearce departs for Camp McDowell while the Schutts move to Emmett. The Methodist parsonage undergoes extensive repairs with new pews doors and a porch. Jack Short returns from Chicago after tubercular elbow treatment. Lee Commerly relocates to Long Valley near Cascanie for a contract. Payette Milling and Box Co. plans relocation to a brick building with a mine view east of the freight yard.
