Perishable shipments to Boise Portland rail service begins
Beginning March 11 the 0.8 L Ry will operate a refrigerated stock car for perishable shipments between Boise and Portland via Nampa and Huntington. The car runs on a weekly Tue Fri schedule, then Wed Sat from Huntington, enabling rapid 30 hour trips and handling eggs butter cheese dressed beef poultry and other perishables. Shipments must be delivered to the Salt Lake or Payette railway by noon each Tue or Fri. A Jersey cow sale is set for March 28 at Lethe with reduced fares on Payette Valley Railroad for round trips from Payette New Plymouth and Fruitland.
