Payette Attested as Best of Western Cities by Visitor

Mrs E E Beck of Logan Iowa praises Payette in a letter to the Logan Observer after visiting the town and nearby families. She touts Payette Valley’s water abundance for irrigation and fruit lands, noting land yields of 200 to 900 dollars per acre yearly as a key justification for its value.

Young Man Korup Killed In Hunting Outing Near Squaw Creek

Chris Korup a Payette resident and uncle to Chris Henrichsen died after a dry tree fell during a hunting fishing outing with friends near the head of Squaw Creek. He lived 27 hours after the accident before passing at Weiser hospital. Funeral held at Pythian Temple with K of P and Payette lodge delegations attending. Born in Germany April 24 1888 he came to the United States with his parents Mr and Mrs Pranz Korup of Weiser who survive him. A brother Karl Korup and sister Mrs Lew Waters also survive in Weiser. The community expresses deep sympathy. A dance at Gortons Hall on Thursday July 27 is announced by John A Harader Notary Public.

Brick Yards Busy Place at Payette Heights

Large orders for the Wm. Sherwood brick plant east of the city keep a big force of men on the jump. The Payette Heights operation, begun in April, now runs about 12,500 bricks daily and aims for a million and a half this season. The plant, using electric power and modern machinery, supports Payette families through steady payrolls of 350 to 500 dollars weekly.
