Jimmerson Brothers, leading melon growers, bring in the first crates of ripe cantaloupes to Enterprise Meat Market. Melon ripening this year is two weeks ahead of any previous year, with a large ranch north of the city yielding a fine stand. The entire crop should be moving by August 1st in good shape.

Resignation at Hell Telephone Co. Manager Amid City Farewell

D and Carver, local manager of the Hell Telephone Co., resigned recently but remained until last Saturday. C. W. Harris from Boise succeeds him, hailed as well recommended. Carver plans a long vacation by saddle and pack animals with two companions, traveling to San Francisco before heading to Salt Lake to start duties with Bell Co. on Sept 1. The Carvers, once residents here, leave many friends who wish them success in their new roles.

Emma Theatre Grand Opening Led by Mayor’s Gift

The Emma Theatre will be completed for opening night on Friday July 29 with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Y M C A presenting the Spinster Convention a comic and musical program. Mayor W A Coughanour donated the opera house for one evening to raise funds for the Kilchen Nein coom and Taine gunvuncements of an event sure to draw interest and amusement. The entire production will feature local talent.

D W Miney, a respected Payette and Canyon County resident, announces intent to seek the Republican nomination for county assessor at the January election. Vacation sermon series at Presbyterian Church

The pastor preaches 11 o'clock services on vacation subjects. Last Sunday’s topic was A Mountain Trip and next Sunday will be Am Interesting Sea Voyage. James Wells aged 15 drowns while swimming with six boys in the Boise river near Caldwell. Efforts to rescue failed. an examination ruled accidental drowning. Wells is the son of Jesse Wells, with mother and three sisters at home. father away at Squaw Creek.

Booster Band Concert Moves to Saturday Evening

The Booster Band will hold its weekly concert on Saturday night instead of Wednesday. Mail Pouch Stolen From Mail Crane On No 18 Route

A mail pouch hung on a Payette crane for the eastbound No 18 train was reported missing after the 2:40 a.m. pickup. Inspector Clements of Portland is reviewing the ground for clues. operators say the pouch was routinely left on the crane minutes before arrival, making theft by a third party possible. Judge Sebring Dies After Short Illness

C J Sebring probate judge of Canyon county died Saturday afternoon in a Boise hospital after a brief typhoid illness. He came to Caldwell as a law partner, later became probate judge, and funeral services were held Tuesday by the Odd Fellows. Body sent to Methamori Ohio. A separate note reports a $2300 currency package lost in the mail from Payette National Bank on June 20.
