Payette Grocer Association Banquet at Chamber of Commerce

The Dependable Grocer's Association and wives met at 6 45 pm Thursday in the chamber of commerce rooms. Anne the Payette high school orchestra entertained. Prof Adams led a sing along. Austin Anson welcomed visiting members. Boise firms Davidson Grocery Co and Oaks Co spoke of cooperation. Welser, Ontario members voiced encouragement. Mrs F P Ryan of Ontario sang. later husbands joined at the Emma Theater then Elk's charity ball. Fire safety notes followed with lengthy hazards and recommendations. Payette Fire Dept praised. calls for regular biannual hazard checks and a Fire Prevention Week. Recommendations to expand fire district and update ordinances were urged.

Prosperity Week Campaign Planned in Payette County

In the week from February 12 to 17 Prosperity Week aims to spur debt repayment. A countywide drive will use newspaper ads windows banners and shipboard displays to encourage paying debts and keeping money at home. An introductory campaign leads into three weeks of advertising with a big inducement to participate.

Quick Bus But No Fire At Second Avenue Home

Fire department responded Saturday forenoon to B. N. Dean's home on Second Avenue South. They found the house filled with smoke from a toppled stove pipe and hot fire on the stove. Alarm was sent in amid a brief scare. It proved safer to respond quickly than risk a real blaze.

Wells Completed on Crane Creek Sheep Co Property

A survey reports three artesian wells drilled on the Crane Creek Sheep Company property, north of Falk near Emmett. Water was reached at 87, 95, and 86 feet, each flowing at 22 to 50 gallons per minute. Sheds are being moved to the wells, with lengths of 300 and 600 feet.

An unusual Father and Son Day at the Kiwanis Club featured Judge Luther and Rev Hall offering advice to fathers on guiding boyhood. Mr R L Hamilton of Nyssa searched for his 16 year old daughter Alice Hamilton who left home unannounced and had not appeared at Payette by Wednesday. Robert Kennedy aged pioneer died at his daughter Mrs. John Hill’s home four miles east of Payette on Monday at 2 P M He was an early Oregon settler moving from Malheur county near Squaw Butte to the Kennedy ranch near New Plymouth He is survived by one daughter and three sons Funeral services were held in New Plymouth.

Elk's Annual Ball a Success at Pavilion

The Elk's annual charity ball last Thursday evening at the pavilion was a complete success. Well attended by home folks and a delegation from Boise and nearby towns, the hall was beautifully decorated in purple and white with mounted elk heads forming a light cluster. Net receipts after expenses were a little over $360. Willow Creek plans a dance Friday at the school house in District No. 4 and promises a good time.
