Payette Commercial Club Aims at Seed and Food Law Reform

A large Payette Commercial Club meeting reviewed executive committee plans and the Snake River Bridge Committee report. Members discussed the pure seed and pure food laws, debating enforcement, public understanding, and farmer compliance. A motion urged selecting a three member committee to push for relief and possible reform.

Memory of Abraham Lincoln Honored

Next Monday marks the 108th anniversary of Lincolns birthday with a memorial sermon at 11 oclock Sunday morning by Rev Henry Van Engelen, pastor of the Baptist church. Payette Valley Railroad Connects With O S L Line

Payette Valley Railroad completes a bridge connection to the O and S railroad main line, enabling entry into the city via the O S L bridge. A new block semiphore and telephone booth protect main line operations with dispatcher control from Nampa. First Payette Valley train arrives Tuesday at noon.

Methodist education board eyes Payette for new university site

A Methodist Educational Board committee visited Payette Idaho reviewing multiple potential sites for a proposed university. Dr Nicolsen and Dr Evans spoke at a large Emma theatre gathering, praising Payette’s climate water and education while stressing Commercial Club support and local schools.

The general manager orders immediate enlargement of the U S L Railroad bridge over the Payette River to double track the Short Line. Engineer Kelly will draft plans for a girder bridge and parts will be moved to a branch line as work starts at once.

Methodist leaders discuss possible college in Idaho visit

The speaker described Methodist school network with 360 institutions and 16 000 students worldwide, noting locations from Malay Peninsula to Singapore. He said a Southern Idaho university was possible as a high grade college needing twenty acres, 610 000 for buildings, and 200 000 to 250 000 endowment, with outcome depending on local support. Dr Barnes echoed optimism. at 3:15 the meeting ended as visitors left for Boise on the Pony.

Harold Morton Kramer, noted lecturer and novelist, will headline the next Y M C A entertainment course in Payette on Monday February 12. Reserved seating opens Friday at Strother's Jewelry at four p.m. and expected attendees are urged to secure tickets early for a nationally reputed speaker.

Presbyterians and Methodists Tie for First in Payette League

Payette Basketball League finishes with Presbyterians and Methodists both at five wins and one loss. The Professionals lost to the Methodists 25 to 12 in the second half. Baptists and Presbyterians won their games with Shake and Shafer scoring 12 and 8 respectively. O’Neil assisted. A 271 game will decide the championship.

Del Huntington, injured by a fall from a bridge, able to be downtown for first time since accident.
