Christmas was observed by all denominations in Payette with programs and tree displays. Sunday School pupils enjoyed gifts, while the Methodists Presbyterians and Baptists held services. The German Lutheran church hosted a program and large Christmas tree for members' children, and the Christian congregation also held exercises.
The Lookout Committee of Portia reports a generous Christmas response with money, food, clothing, and toys. Donated items arrived at Cold Storage without names. 17 families were aided in two weeks, totaling 74 children. Gifts were delivered via Mr. Levers and volunteers. more food and clothing are still needed for the hard winter. Families needing help can contact Mrs. M. E. Wood to arrange drop offs.

Miss Josephine McCosh daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles McCosh won the Jones Drug Company piano contest with 183125 votes. Mrs White former teacher visited the High School to launch ticket sales for the recital course. The Student Association elected managers for basketball and glee club. Payette girls beat Weiser. boys lost to a Payette league All Stars in a close, fast game with ONeill and Ensign top scorers.

The Y M C A entertainment course announces Alvah Green a top humorist will perform on Thursday evening January 4th. Tickets are fifty cents with Strothers handling sales and reservations. The building opens New Year’s Day with games, refreshments, and possible orchestra music as the community is invited to enjoy a social time and seek help finding odd jobs through the association.
Presbyterians take first in league standings after a fast paced 35 23 victory over the Baptists. Ensign and O Neill starred with strong baskets, while lineups list Bowman L Dibble Brown and Shake among Baptists and Holden highlighted the Professionals in a separate game. Also notes include church events at German Evangelical Church, housing ad, pigs for sale, lost violin, and reward offer.
Governor Hawley advocates exemptions under a modified Henry George tax theory. He supports tax relief for owner occupied homes up to 2500 value, and for orchard profits until bearing, while opposing exemptions for cash and credit items.
