Semi-Annual American Legion Convention in Idaho

The Third District Council of the American Legion of Idaho held its semi annual convention drawing two hundred attendees from South Western Idaho and eastern Creton. A large banquet featured Miss Mary Coreen and Miss Helen Kilbourne with Prof. Adams and a local orchestra. State Commander Paul Davis and National Vice Commander Lester Albert addressed the gathering alongside Brig. Gen. Patch of Pay-Oe. The event closed with a military ball and district business sessions marking the largest World War veterans assembly in Shaw.

Busy Saturday at treasurer and post office as taxes due

Game Dept Salvages Fish From Idaho Irrigation Ditches

The Idaho Game Department has salvaged over 1.6 million perch and bass from Deer Flat Irrigation canals and reservoirs and replanted them across southern Idaho. Fish were placed in Payette Lakes and other waterways to restore fishing areas, with plants in Port Neuf river tributaries and towns like Kuna Payette Nampa and Midvale. Former Payette residents visit as winter plans unfold

Mr and Mrs Henry Stang of Reinbeck Iowa visited Payette at the Reimers home then headed to southern California for the winter. The Stangs recall former Payette friends Otto Albert and George Plachm now farming near Reinbeck. Frank Duborko sold both Payette cleaning establishments to W E Beamguard of Weiser and H R Scott who moved the City Pressary to Yale Oregon. Beamguard begins January 1.

He notes fall grain planted in good season with moisture to come. a dairy herd and poultry sustain requires. Langley cites hay cut at proper time being equal or better than alfalfa for dairy cows.

The Johnston brothers introduce a Zeolite based water softener to tackle hard water woes in Payette. The device, built after market research, softens about 5,000 gallons in six hours and plans call for expanding to 10,000 gallons daily. regeneration uses brine and reuses the mineral.

Driller Undergoes Operation After Pneumatic Injury

At Payour oil well a driller named Stevens was injured while handling lifting gear at Joly Rosary hospital. He sustained a left side injury that required treatment but was not deemed serious. The work at the Payour oil well will be paused briefly during his recovery.

Two autos smash on road near Snake River thriller

Dr Avey was in a collision on Monday west of the Snake River with an Overland and a Ford Coupe. Both cars were badly damaged. the Overland was a total loss. No injuries were reported.
