Convention Big Success in Hard Weather

The Stockman's convention held last week was a success despite tight attendance from bad weather. Numerous speakers from the Commercial Club and state officials addressed the crowd. An evening of music, wrestling, and social events drew praise, though the planned stock sale was canceled due to weather. Officers were re-elected and the next meeting set for Boise. A separate family reunion and a firemen meeting are noted, with upcoming article on the Star Line Mail Route promised for next week.

Calf Club Meet Touts 1920 Plans in Payette

The Joint County Calf Club meeting in Payette, tied to the Idaho Stockmen’s Convention, featured instruction on beef and dairy cattle judging using standard score cards. Forty four members dined with the Commercial Club, and plans for Calf Club work for 1920 were discussed before an afternoon film showing Shorthorn pictures.

Apple Valley Orchard tract sells in large deal

One of the region’s largest real estate transactions closed with the sale of the Apple Valley Orchard Company tract at Apple Valley. The 1000 acre land includes bearing orchards and the entire town site, with company improvements valued around 35000. Denney & Co. purchases also acquired several other orchard tracts. The price ranged from 300 to 600 dollars per acre based on land quality.

Former Payette Man Visits Convention

B L Blackham, a former Payette man now of Ogden Utah, arrived in Payette to attend the Stockman's Convention and greet old friends. He moved to Ogden in 1909 and has since built a thriving fancy Hereford cattle business, handling 1800 to 2000 registered animals yearly, and may return in spring with cattle to trade with local ranchers.
