Opening Night At The aa ma Theatre By Hughes Couple

Under Kew Management announces the August 20 opening of the aa ma Theatre after a thorough remodel. A Ladies Rest Room is added and first class pictures will be shown. Hughes invite public patronage for opening night. Andy Maneman returns from Portland after treatment for illness including smallpox exposure and pest house stay. he was questioned by the City Council before returning to Payette in improved health.

Astoria Chamber Guests To Attend Pendleton Roundup

Pendleton hosts a three day visit by 150 Astoria Chamber of Commerce members September 18 to 20. They arrive to see the Roundup and expect to watch events including the salmon rope and bronc riding while lodging in five standard sleepers with a dining car.

New Location for Gem Vulcanizing Works

The Gem Vulcanizing Works moved across the street into the Chase building offering expanded space and full vulcanizing and repair services with new machinery. Frank Walters of City Bakery reports updated equipment including an electric bread mixer and a moulding machine, boosting capacity and efficiency to produce 600 loaves in ten minutes. Both machines run on electricity and enhance convenience and speed to meet demand.

Miss Evelyn Skippen of Gorham Mare Co and Clifford Ayres, recently back from overseas, were married in Boise Monday. Friends extend congratulations. Payette fans at the Bolsa ball game saw Boise lose to Burley, 10 to 1.

Free Lecture by Salvation Army Chaplain Jones at Christian Church

Chaplain Harry W. Jones of the Salvation Army, recently returned from overseas, will give a free lecture at the Christian Church next Monday at 8 p m. He spoke to large crowds in France and Germany, urging soldiers to pledge conversion and support Salvation Army work. He shared how his son’s death report proved false and recounted his tour through French and German posts with audiences from 300 to 5,000.

Truck Passes Narrow Hill Cut See The Grange Mill Trip

A large party of Grange Co operative Saw Mill stockholders rode to the mill on a trip led by Guy Howard in a big truck. On Black Canyon hill the truck slipped over the grade while passing a car coming down. Howard steadied the descent by crumpling the truck to stay right side up. Some riders were bruised when they tumbled down rocks but all returned safely that evening. The visit left them optimistic about the mill’s outlook. Pendleton Oregon. Ashworth Ranch Barn and Packing House Destroyed by Fire

Fire destroyed the Ashworth ranch barn packing house and bunk house north of town. Origin unknown but likely started by children. Packing house held 3400 boxes and thousands of packing supplies. Loss comes as fruit crop nears harvest. barn partly insured but total loss likely.
