Milk and Cream Cooling Rule After Milking
To limit bacteria growth, milk and cream should be cooled to at least 50 to 60 degrees F within an hour after milking. A protective coating is needed for concrete silo walls when storing legume and grass silage because their juices are more acidic than normal corn silage.
