A newborn weighed seven pounds twelve ounces at St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis. Grandparents are Ernest and Leona Leicht of Patoka. The community recalls visits by numerous residents, students starting college, church gatherings, and a Kaskaskia Baptist Association meeting in Vandalia.
A miscellaneous shower was held for Mr and Mrs Dave Browning at the Baptist Church Wednesday evening. It was sponsored by church ladies with the south room in green and white. Gifts were plentiful and the couple, who will reside in Springfield Illinois, were honored at the event.
On Sunday September 13 at her home west of Patoka, Mabel Brokelmeyer celebrated her 75th birthday with twenty relatives. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Howard Riley of Decatur and several Vernon area families, sharing a noon meal and photos as old friends wished her many more birthdays.
Mr. Berry stops in Bristol Virginia to visit an Army buddy. Jewels Iowa visits Charles Berry and relatives last week. Mr and Mrs Ben Reese toured Southern Illinois on Sunday visiting Bald Knob and Pomona Natural Bridge.
The Fall Festival raised 4649.06 in total income as organizers thank attendees for support. They acknowledge a power outage reduced success and pledge to prevent a recurrence next year.
