Mr and Mrs Bill Bates and Jim visited their doctor in St Louis last Tuesday. Elston Protz and family enjoyed a picnic at New Salem last Sunday. Dale Weinsman and family of Centralia dined with the Protz family. Orval West of Vernon met with Paul Pratz on Wednesday. Saturday guests included John Gehrken of Vernon Gladys Wengert of Salem Oregon Hobart Arnold and Melvin Belcher and Delbert Belcher of Annadale Virginia for dinner last Thursday with Berthel Sanders Carl Bernius Gilbert Brown of Vernon afterward.

Parade Route Is Announced for Saturday’s Event
The parade starts at 2 p.m. Saturday September 5 from Barnes Garage heading south to Cox-Martin Funeral Home and north to Park Street then to the park. Units line up by 1 30 p.m. About 50 entries and 100 horses expected with bands, floats, and walkers listed from Local Union 780 to Lions Club and other groups.

Patoka Readies Big Fall Festival September 4 and 5
The town of Patoka with 650 residents plans a large two day Fall Festival featuring a parade, Scott Field Band and concerts. Local leaders praise Lions Club for highway signage and the Fire Department for new equipment. Visitors are urged to bring chairs and blankets for comfort.

Patoka earns 6 to 3 win over Okawville with four second inning runs. Larry Thompson reaches on a catcher error, Morris Carter advances on interference, Luke Walker and Carl Jolliff help plate runs. Dave Calvert steals second as Patoka adds two more in the fifth.
Warriors Rout Odin Eagles in Second Win of Season
The Warriors extended their perfect start to 2 0 with a 10 0 five inning victory over the Odin Eagles. Carl Jolliff walked and scored on Jim Padbury’s single in the first. Dave Calvert walked stole third and scored on an error in the second. Calvert hit a single in the fourth as Larry Thompson plated him, then Emil Nattier and Steve Jenkins produced runs. Luke Walker contributed with two hits including a third inning single and later scored on a Walker single in the fifth. Carl Jolliff added a run on an error filled sequence before Padburg’s single capped the scoring.

Mr and Mrs Edgar Brown of Chicago visited Bear Haven over the weekend joining Eberlee Norris and wife for a Saturday night gathering. They also met Edgar's brother Frank Brown and his wife during the visit.

Tuesday offers hot dogs buttered potatoes corn tomato slice cheese strip peach milk. Wednesday features ham mashed potatoes and gravy peas pineapple ring bread butter and milk.
