Sensational Attractions Announced for DuQuoin Fair Program

Officials at the DuQuoin State Pair announce a sensational midwest show lineup for Labor Day week. The fair offers harness and running races Society Horse Show 15 vaudeville acts Ernie Young's mammoth revue with 100 performers and internationally known singers and dancers. Children and moonlit youths with free gate on Tuesday. Wednesday features Jimmy Lynch's Daredevil Drivers with car stunts and a dramatic airplane crash by Capt. Frakes. Thursday Friday focus on races and shows. Saturday highlights 30 fast auto races sponsored by the Central States Racing Assn. Goodman's Wonder Shows and a large farm machinery display complete the program.

State Geologist M M Leighton reports southeastern Illinois pools hold over 200 million barrels with enough oil to average at least 40 000 barrels daily for more than 16 years. He notes untapped areas in the state may contain additional millions.

Dinner honors Chas Arnold in shared community gathering

Seventy people attended a family dinner at the Cyrus Arnold home to honor Charles Arnold now living in Montana. The noon basket meal drew ninety three expected guests, followed by an afternoon of music by the Ehrat Brothers and greetings from relatives and friends including Jim and Marion Caldwell and the Ehrat family.
