Rural Electric Coop Survey Highlights Regulate and Tax Views
A Central Surveys report shows Illinois rural electric cooperative members split on regulation by the Mortgage Com mission and tax treatment. More than half favor regulation of rates and service areas, 68 percent want coops taxed like other utilities, and 81 percent want interest on loans at least equal to government borrowing costs.
