Cornelia Ella Dunn daughter of B A and Mary Dunn born June 15 1863 died April 24 1930 at her Vernon Illinois home age 66 years 10 months 9 days. She married J B Knight in 1879 had two sons C S Knight and L E Knight. After 1891 she wed T W Oates Vernon and cared for her stepson W C Oates. She joined the Methodist Church at fourteen and spent years in quiet toil for others. Funeral at Vernon M E Church Saturday at 2 p m with Rev J M Smith and Rev Oral Brown. burial Vernon cemetery.

Household Science Club Elects Officers and Plans Parade
The Household Science club met Saturday afternoon in the gym and arranged to take part in the Child Health Parade at Centralia on May 1. Officers were elected with Katie Nattier as president and Mrs. O. A. Nattier named delegate to the Mt. Vernon district convention. Delegates to state federation were chosen, and new members were elected. The meeting featured papers on housekeeping and music and a roll call.

Payroll declines hit Illinois in mid February to mid March
Employment in reporting industries of Illinois dropped 1.2 percent from February 15 to March 15 per a report by the Illinois Department of Labor. Factory jobs fell 1.1 percent and non manufacturing work declined 1.3 percent. Overall payrolls dropped 5 percent with 4.2 percent fall for factory workers and 6.5 percent for non manufacturing wage earners.

Burial of Mrs Good at Patoka Cemetery
The body of Mrs. Good of Woodlawn Ill was buried in Patoka cemetery Wednesday afternoon. The funeral was held at 10 30 a m at Woodlawn. She was the step mother of Mr Wm Good and an aunt of the Ellis boys.

Nighttime robbery ride ends in Mt Vernon for Patoka man
John Orrell of near Patoka describes a Saturday night hijack by a man who commandeered his car on a rural road. The bandit forced him south toward Centralia and Mt. Vernon, threatened to shoot, robbed his pockets, and fled after taking fuel and a flashlight. Police later traced the bandit to a Mt. Vernon restaurant before lingering clues.

The Household Science club's 1929 30 year featured Department of Public Health talks by county and state nurses, community service with Christmas care packages, a garden project and flower show, and educational programs on education for the blind. International work included peace essays and posters, plus American Home themes and a food demonstration. Family Night banquet capped the season. finances came from ice cream sales and an open air drama netting about 27 dollars, ending with 30 members paid up.
