Patoka Grade School nets Edgewood tourney title
Patoka Grade School won first place at Edgewood Illinois in an 81 to 25 victory over Edgewood to cap a successful season. The squad defeated Sacred Hearts of Effingham 25 to 18 and Brownstown earlier. Coach Homer N Potts led Leighton Wasem Jimmie Wasem and Stephen to top scoring. The team finished 25 games 20 wins 5 losses with a strong fan base and a second place in the Southern Illinois District tournament at Sandoval.

The Township spelling contest will be held Saturday afternoon March 20 1948 at 1 30 p m at the listed schools. The committee will judge eligibility of contestants and each school may enter one pupil from grades one through eight who attended school in 1947 1948 and was not sixteen before January 1 1948.
