Friday vote on Wheat Marketing Quota in County
Farmers with more than 15 acres of wheat in 1957 may vote in a wheat quota referendum. If two thirds approve, quotas stay for 1957 with price support between 75 and 90 percent of parity. penalties apply for excess production. If fewer than one third approve, quotas fail and price support drops to 50 percent. Registered voters must sign up to vote.

Driver license chief to take driving lessons in Illinois meet
Mora A. Lindquist Orion chief inspector in the Drivers License department will learn to drive a 1910 Velie for the Antique Auto and Sports Car Meet at the Illinois State Fair. IAA President Objects to System in Soil Bank Plan
Otto Steffey, president of the Illinois Agricultural Association, asks the U S Department of Agriculture to revise soil bank yield formulas for corn in South Central and Southern Illinois. He argues the 1952 1953 1954 droughts produced abnormally low yields not reflected in the averages used for payments, unfairly cutting farmers’ support.
