Youth Revival at Vernon Pentecostal Church Begins February 21

The Vernon Pentecostal Church announces a Youth Week Revival from February 21 to February 28 with the theme The Blessed Hope. Speaker is Dennis Hollowell and Pastor Coy Sampson invites everyone. Mrs. Rotha Payne returned home Wednesday from St Marys Hospital in Centralia after a brief surgical stay.

Planning Advance For Odin Sewer

A prompt from Congressman Shipley in Washington advises approval of a 330000 public works planning advance to improve and extend Odin’s combined sewer system. The project costs 28680 will begin this year and the advances are repayable at construction start.

High School District Tournament at Patoka Gym

The HS District Tournament will be held in the Patoka gym on February 24 to 26. First game February 24 at 7 30 p m Odin vs Aviston. Thursday 6 45 p m Breese Community versus Westlin. Patoka vs winner. Friday 7 30 p m finals. Admission 30c students 70c adults 80c reserved chairs first come. Chairs east side only reserved by calling the office.

Founders Month Observed by Local PTA Meeting

February gathering honors past PTA presidents as Founders Month. Rev. E. E. Settle received a PTA emblem pin from president Mrs. Lois Hill, with Elston Pratt slated to receive one later. Guest speaker Harold D. Sitton, ex Juvenile Patrol Officer, spoke on juvenile delinquency and parole experiences. Fourth grade parents had largest attendance and won the cookie jar.

Eleven local Marion County Home Economics 4-H leaders joined peers from Clinton Bond Fayette and Washington at a district conference in Carlyle on Friday February 5 1965. The meeting covered Improving the 4-H Meeting and Effective Ways of Working With Young People.

The adult farmer class will meet tonight at 7 00 p m in the Yo Ag room at the High School. Les Rogers Marion County Farm Advisor will speak on weed and insect control as rising fertility and earlier planting threaten yields. School Menu February Week Includes Spaghetti and Ham Dishes

February menu lists Italian spaghetti with green beans and carrot sticks on Monday and fried chicken with mashed potatoes on Tuesday.
