Keister Wins In Lighting Contest

Debbie Keister won the Christmas lighting contest with a display praised for beauty and thoughtful meaning. Judges named Larry Britt second and Jolliff, Easton, Adams, Jolliff, Walker in the top seven with several honorable mentions including Tune, Keister, Kissner, Biehl, Cox, and Ehrat.

University of Illinois students begin Christmas break

University of Illinois at Urbana will start Christmas holidays at 1 p m on December 22. Classes resume at 1 p m on January 3. Willing Neighbors Club meets at Mrs Dean Britt home

Fifteen members and three children attended the Willing Neighbors Club gathering at Mrs. Dean Britt’s home. A noon dinner was served and a business meeting followed with reports approved. Amanda Thalman will preside again and Lula Belcher remains secretary treasurer.

Illinois Passes 1965 Law Requiring Front Seat Belts

The 74th General Assembly approved an act in June 1965 making front seat belt installation mandatory for 1961 and later model cars. Since 1956 new cars sold in Illinois must have front seat belt anchors. A 1966 deadline established standards, with penalties up to $100 for first offenses.
