Fragmentary OCR shows a high school and grade school in Toka with athletic lines and a poem praising a local figure. The text references Kinmundy and a Chicago trip, noting creed as lived truth rather than stated belief, and recalls a life in deeds over doctrine.
Former resident Ginius M. Carr and Lee F Sansy announce their marriage on July 18 1928 at the M E parsonage in Stonington Illinois. The bride daughter of Albert and Mrs Carr a Stonington High graduate and four year public school teacher will make their future home near Mt Auburn. The groom son of Frank E Sailsberry also of Stonington.
After Mrs. Mitzel's death there will be no services on Sunday December 30. Pastor D. Mitzel will resume preaching January 6 at Patoka 6 45 AM Vernon 7 00 PM with Arnold Chapel at 11 AM on the second Sunday and back to Vernon in the evening. He asks for prayers as he continues his duties.
Last Sunday a splendid Christmas program was rendered with almost one hundred in attendance. The note invites all interested to join weekly Sunday sessions, especially those not registered elsewhere, under Samuel M. Spurgeon at the Baptist of M. B. Sunday School.
Cent ralia Masons hold a three day School of Instruction January 2 to 4 1929 with Governor Elect Louis L Emmerson and Illinois Grand Master assisting. The schedule includes opening and closing rites first second and third degree exemplifications and receptions across January 2 3 and 4.

Springfield report states the Illinois Commerce Commission authorized the Egyptian Transportation System to operate bus service along State Route 33 from Robinson to Vandalia and a Fairfield to Champaign route via Flora and Effingham. Start date not announced. service could begin in about a month.
A Christmas gathering at the Louie Wasem home drew seventeen relatives. Attendees included Mrs. Bettie Clark and her daughter Henrietta, the P. B. Simcox family of Decatur, the Carl Meador family, James Wasem and his St. Louis wife, Neil Davidson of peaks, and Joe Hopkins of Sanet.
The Religious Advancement Movement Committee announces the next service will be at the Baptist Church next Sunday night with Rev. Ralph Willis delivering the evening address.

A public appeal invites every ex service man and family to a New Year banquet at the American Legion Hall in Patoka Illinois on January 1 1929. Attendees are urged to arrive by 7 pm and bring spouses. The notice promises a real banquet with no army slum meals and advises early attendance.
Last Saturday about 8 p m a severe crash occurred at the west curve from Stewart School House when a Hudson left the road and overturned killing a woman instantly. Mr Williams and family of Benton, en route to Springfield for Christmas, were in the car. others were only slightly injured. Coroner held inquest at 10 o'clock corroborating the facts.
Enoch Sherman and Addie Lynch, both 75, wed at Vandalia with Rev J M Smith officiating. They begin life as partners again after previous spouses died. They plan to live at the Hudspeth Hotel until the Sherman home is ready. Friends extend congratulations.
The death of J. L. Peddicord occurred at his home southeast of Patoka on Wednesday morning. The funeral is set for today Friday. He belonged to a well known local family and spent most of his life in the area. A complete obituary will appear next week.
