Homer Croy Early Life and Missouri Farm Roots
Amos Croy a Civil War veteran moved from Ohio to a Marysville Missouri area farm with Susan Sewell. Their son Homer grew up amid a sturdy farming community. He earned his name from an Ohio township not the poet and recalls a cyclone that destroyed the barn and much of the orchard. Neighbors were distant and he was naturally reserved in childhood.
