Mrs William Kidder and Peggy of Oklahoma City spent the weekend with Mr and Mrs Howard Quick and Bob. Bob Bales of Patoka was a Sandoval visitor Tuesday morning. Mrs Howard Quick and her guests visited Bloomington with Mrs James Burger who is in St James hospital. Several residents attended an election day dinner at the Methodist Church in Shattle.

Nitrogen Boosts Yields for Small Grains Pasture and Hay
Prof C J Chapman of the University of Wisconsin says higher nitrogen fertilizer raises yields of small grains and increases pasture and hay. Benefits depend on soil minerals, phosphate and potash, and crop rotation with deep-rooted legumes. Tests show 0-20-20 at 500 pounds yielding 56 bushels per acre, rising to over 91 with 100 pounds ammonium nitrate. Liberal phosphate and potash needed when seeding clover or alfalfa. Seedling legumes tolerate nitrogen-rich growth and competition from straw.
