Milk ordinance tabled by St. Louis board until new session
Sanitary Milk Producers report the St. Louis milk ordinance was lost with the session ending March 30. The measure would grade milk for purity and require farm inspections, funded by producers and distributors. Health Commissioner Dr Jos F Bredeck plans a public hearing when reintroduced. Public Welfare Chair John P Collins notes the bill was too complex for brief consideration. Association president E W Tiedeman says members will study the proposal and present positions at hearings.

Western Railways Extend Reduced Passenger Fares Four Months
Western railways extend the reduced passenger fares for four months through September. The plan sets 2 cents per mile one way in coaches and 1.8 cents per mile round trip, with sleepers at 2 cents per mile one way and 2.5 cents per mile round trip for longer limits. A committee of presidents from Western lines will confer with East and South to press for a uniform nationwide basis.

1934 World’s Fair in Chicago A $40 Million Investment
The 1934 World’s Fair in Chicago will feature more than forty million dollars in investment with over fifty rebuilt structures and about five million spent on new pavilions and remodels. The Midway becomes an avenue of Nations with foreign village recreations and a boardwalk layout by the bathing beach. Spectacular water displays and colored lighting are planned.
