Four suspects, two men and two women, robbed Farmers & Merchants State Bank in Vernon. They forced cashier L. E. Green and Miss Marie Hathaway into the vault, escaped with about $3200, and left a $1000 reward for their capture as Sheriff Harvey May and Deputy pursue leads across Illinois.

Mary E. Warner born near Zenia Illinois on April 7 1844 lived here until her 1864 marriage to Marion Chaffin. They had ten children. Marion died in 1913. She leaves two sons James of Sandoval and William of St Louis, two daughters in law, eleven grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Funeral Wednesday evening conducted by Rev J M Smith with burial in Carrigan cemetery.

Flora Letitia Ballance, born November 18 1871, died March 31 1928 in Centralia Illinois. She married Elsworth Chandler in 1892, later J T Dorris in 1917, leaving husband Guy Chandler Ruth Wickenhouser Helen Chandler and seven grandchildren. Burial was at Jones cemetery after services at Zion Church.
