Lieutenant Colonel Benefield, son of Mr and Mrs Benefield of Jefferson, flew an F-4 Phantom fighter-bomber against a Viet Cong target in the IV Corps area of Vietnam. His mission damaged a sewer fort, ignited a secondary explosion, and supported allied operations. His wife Suzanne of Missouri attended his earlier briefings.
