Rose Float Benefit Horses Show At Santa Anita

A fund raising continental breakfast and horse show at Santa Anita Park on Saturday December 9 supports the Arcadia Tournament of Roses float. Arcadia Rose Queen Carat Loudon and princesses will be introduced as they ride the parade float in Pasadena New Year’s Day. The event features various horse breeds plus racing Thoroughbreds with workouts open daily from 8:15 to 9:30 a.m. Proceeds, 30 cents per person, go to the float fund organized by Arcadia Tournament of Roses Association chairman Allen Phillips.

Al Garcia Elected President of Monrovia Board of Realtors

Al Garcia of Monrovia was chosen as the 1961 president of the Monrovia Board of Realtors at the annual November meeting. He will be joined by Christine Scruggs as vice president Merbert L. Cook as secretary treasurer and directors Ron Coleman Hayden De Camp Jim Head Lyman Gage and Mary Jane Lothan Asuncicle Director. Garcia has over three years in local real estate and has served on the Monrovia Red Cross chapter board for two years and is a member of the Monrovia Elks Lodge. Arcadia Police report October felonies show burglaries at 50 percent of adult felonies with 19 of 72 felonies leading to arrests. Auto thefts t total eight, narcotics seven, and juvenile petty thefts lead arrests. Traffic fines 1059 with 11 arrests, four accidents, one fatality, injuries total 25.
