Margaret Truman daughter of former President Harry S. Truman announced her engagement to EF. C. Daniel assistant to the foreign editor of the New York Times in Kansas City. They met in November and plan to marry after Easter in Independence Missouri with a church ceremony at Trinity Episcopal.
Fire and hurricane like gusts wrecked seven houses and two garages along Haines Canyon Ave in Tujunga as flames covered over 15 acres. Winds reached 85 mph in the canyons, with 200 Los Angeles firemen battling the blaze that began after midnight.
A 17 year old Bell Gardens High School student, Margena Joyce Brunner, was found dead in a parked car early today, apparently strangled. Deputies identified the victim and report signs of a criminal attack with bruises and missing undergarments. The coroner’s office confirms preliminary evidence of assault and strangulation.

A U.S. twin engined Albatross with six crew aboard crashed and exploded in the sea off Newfoundland shortly after leaving Argentia Navy base for the Azores. Navy boats reached the scene within three minutes and found no survivors. two bodies were recovered while names were withheld pending family notification.
