103 Soldiers Lost in Korean Storms

In the Eastern front of Korea American helicopter pilots braved a severe blizzard to deliver emergency supplies as 103 South Korean soldiers were dead or missing. About 28,000 ROK troops and a small U.S. detachment were isolated near Punch Bowl by days of heavy snow. 78 soldiers reported dead and 25 missing.

Barry James Starr an 18 year old ex airman captured after an 80 mph chase awaits court action in a Whittier area killing of his friend John L Fields 16 an airman at Parks AFB. Starr said Fields pressed him about his 16 year old bride Toni leading to a fatal three slug shot in the car. Two Nuns Die in Quebec House Fire

A fire at the Sisters of Charity mother house in Quebec killed two elderly nuns, Sister St Ferroel aged 75 and Sister St Claire A Assise aged 72, while more than 300 sisters escaped. The blaze started on the ground floor of the seven story stone building.

20 Injured as Truck Collides With Car on U S 395

Nineteen Mexican orange pickers and a Fullerton man were injured today when a truck carrying them collided with a car on U.S. 395 near Escondido. Two victims were in critical condition at Palomar Hospital, seven seriously hurt, and eleven treated for minor injuries.
