A 17 year old Lincol n High School student George A Montoya was fatally shot on Fifth Street near Union and Loma Drive as two rival gangs the Temple Street and Clanton Street clashed. Investigating officers said the Temple Street group planned retaliation after a prior stabbing.

Three Buildings Wrecked by Train

In Mason Michigan a 55 car New York Central freight derailed after a wheel failure. Twenty two cars jumped the tracks and struck three buildings including a lumber store basement and a warehouse, with fertilizer ruptured and 200000 dollars in non-rail damage estimated. no injuries reported.

C 119 Crashes Near Liberty Schools In South Carolina

An Air Force C 119 crash near Liberty South Carolina sent four crew members parachuting away, with witnesses seeing four parachutes.
