Grant Raymond of Perris pleaded no contest in Los Angeles to four counts of submitting false working day claims totaling $184,000. He faces sentencing January 23, with potential prison or probation. Caltech chemist Dr Suuney I Chan urged a unified approach to pesticide risk, arguing that testing must consider cumulative molecular interactions with human tissues. He described using nuclear magnetic resonance to study how pesticide molecules bind to membranes and proteins, guiding safer design and regulation.

Award requires exam, expert panel appraisal, college education, and 10 years buying experience. Bowen leads a department spending about $3.5 million annually with a district warehouse stocking 4,000 items and inventory around 330,000.
State Controller Mouston I Flournoy told Sierra Madre Republicans that fax reform will be top priority before the new legislative session. He urged a broad tax reform program to distribute the tax burden equitably and consider California’s relations with other states and the federal government. Flournoy, Pomona College professor and former six year legislator, predicts a productive 1970 session.

John Carley Robertson of Sierra Madre, a maintenance engineer, received probation in Pasadena Municipal Court after pleading guilty to a poultry complaint. He must prevent six chicks from being near the road and ensure a goose and two ducks do not disturb neighbors, though he asserted the birds were well away from the road and that neighbors fed and enjoyed them.

An evening immunization clinic will be held Thursday from 6 to 9 pm at the El Monte Health Center 4550 N Eastmont Ave El Monte. It offers vaccines for diphtheria tetanus whooping cough polio measles and smallpox. Free for children under six. others may pay 1 for tx and 2 for measles. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and bring immunization records if available.
A $2.5 million damage suit by parents of teenagers killed or injured in a San Gabriel Mountain brush fire was dismissed in Superior Court by Judge Robert W. Kenny on a technicality. The suit accused Los Angeles County and Camp Kenyon J. Scudder of improper authority over young inmates who lit fires igniting the blaze near Azusa Pacific College. Seven youths and a veteran county fireman died. four families and a burned survivor sought damages. In a separate item, Gourmet Class on holiday buffets will be held at California House on California Boulevard at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
