Cynthia Gee Coleman is the third Tournament of Roses princess in Arcadia. She is a freshman at Pasadena City College studying nursing and gaining clinical experience at Huntington Memorial Hospital. Coleman has served as Miss Arcadia, Queen of the Harvest Ball, and Head of the Tam Tom Girls, with Arcadia Hardware as her employer and volunteer work as a hobby.
Free diabetes tests will be offered Wednesday from 1 to 5 and 7 to 4 at the Jefferson Recreation Center 13M EB Villa St. Tests are unsponsored by the Diabetes Association of Southern California and Pasadena Heart Department during National Diabetes Week. Participants are advised to eat a light meal with dessert and beverage about one to two hours before testing. Results will be given immediately.

Alhambra Board of Education faced taxpayer pressure led by Richard Carman who urged a 12 month evaluation of teacher salaries and protested pay raises timing. He criticized figures, urged full county tax remittance to the redevelopment agency, and pressed for fiscal reforms while district officials outlined gifted programs and state legislative positions. Superintendent Donal d Ricker reported revenue projections for the 72nd year with elementary and high school allocations of about 7.5 and 10.3 million respectively.

A Pasadena Superior Court jury of seven women and five men began deliberations Monday to decide the guilt or innocence of former Pasadena School District teacher Barry Lynn Fuson on charges of mistreating four Marshall Junior High students. The trial featured sensational testimony and included Superintendent Ralph Hornbeck and former principal Gene Six as witnesses. Fuson faced one felony count of sexual intercourse with a 12 year old girl and three misdemeanor counts of kissing and inappropriate touching.
