Altadena Group Plans Aesthetic Drive Against Industrial Use

Altadena Library Hall hosted an Altadena group led by Tom Heirich, first vice president, who presided. The faction aimed to block a central island at Lake Avenue and Altadena Drive from being converted to industrial use. Altadena Beautiful outlined goals to remove trash containers and abandoned vehicles, with a committee planning improvements and an anti litter campaign to be run through schools. Hunger Walk from Hunger funds extend to June 15

Closure of Altadena Fire Station 52 Proposed

Acting on a recommendation by the Altadena Fire Committee the Los Angeles County Fire Department proposes closing Fire Station 52 at 1923 N Alien Ave on July 1 for a year. The station would be kept for a year to see if other Altadena stations can provide adequate protection. The move aims to cut the Altadena Fire Protection District tax rate from about $1.01 to about 70 cents per $100 valuation, aligning with the Consolidated Fire District rate of 65 cents and easing a potential merger.

Wounded Youth Out of Danger After Schoolyard Shooting

A V-year-old EL Monte youth wounded critically in a party fight on Burkett Road was reported out of danger Monday. Detectives sought an unidentified suspect. Manuel Zepeda of 1015 El Poche St attended the party with a car club. he was treated at County USC Medical Center for a .22 caliber gunshot wound and listed as fair.

Three Men Arraigned Over Lewd Films In Pasadena

Donald Goulet Clement Burke and Alton Paul were arraigned in Pasadena Municipal Court on obscene film charges. They are to return for jury trial July 16 at 9 20 a.m. Goulet owns the theatre Burke and Paul are part owners of the movie house at 226 East Colorado Avenue. Judge John F Hassler kept them on bail.
