Five youths held after Pasadena department store robbery

Six months ended June 30 earnings rose 6.6 percent to 32 million dollars or 1.40 a share, while sales fell to 255.1 million from 259 million the prior year. annual sales declined to 4.2 million from 480.5 million.

Educator Eckels Elected In Absence Pasadena College Board President
Charles F. Eckels, longtime Pasadena area educator and Pasaden a Junior College alumnus, was elected in absentia to become the Pasadena Area Senior College board president for 1970 71. He has served on the board since 1966 and previously as vice president. The meeting also re clected Cecil Osolf as vice president Dr Armen Sarafian as secretary and Dr E Howard Floyd as assistant secretary. Eckels, who retired in 1985 after 39 years in education, lives in San Marino. In a later reorganization the board split 5 1 4 on bids for a model home built by POC students with bids ranging from 9 500 to 12 125. Purchasing Director Robert Burns noted higher bids could follow if resold. Carl Ludlow opposed the recommendation, citing current economy and desire to vote separately. Dr Armen Sarafian noted the home cost about 6 000 more than the high bid and predicted it would fetch more than that. He added the project shows student effort in action.
