Linda D Addario, age 22, plans to write direct and star in her own movie by age 30. She has launched TV work with scriptwriter Jack Gross Jr on a pilot inspired by crime prevention, a variant of COPS, picked up by Aaron Spelling. She also writes a novel and a screenplay, studies psychology at Harvard, and works with Pacific Oaks and the Glendale Art Forum.
Lowe, president of the Pasadena Board of Education, will speak at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Altadena Elementary School auditorium. Mrs. Ray High, PTA president, will conduct a short association meeting. The talk will cover an appraisal of the present situation the outlook for the future and parent participation in Pasadena schools.
State Sen. HL Richardson and Assemblyman Richard Barnes push a constitutional amendment to require a two thirds vote in the legislature for changes to income and gains taxes. They note existing rules demand two thirds for banks and corporations but allow simple majorities for income and sales tax changes. Barnes defends protecting individual taxpayers and debates widening the requirement to all tax changes while Richardson questions the exclusivity.
Fred Wenmann, 11, of Costa Mesa traveled to Pasadena for a Valentine’s gesture to a girl named Kathy Johnson. After missing the return bus, police found him at dawn in the Johnson household area as authorities coordinated between Pasadena and Costa Mesa.
The California Highway Commission will meet in Pasadena on Thursday and Friday to review the Foothill Freeway route and discuss the East West leg. City Manager John D. Phillips says Pasadena will not present but officials will tour the route Friday at 9 AM.
California Parks Director William Penn Mott Jr urged Pasadena leaders at the Pasadena Beautiful Foundation banquet to redefine progress by prioritizing quality over growth. He warned cities risk monotony, called for design that fits neighborhood needs, and cited Novato’s zoning as a model for integrating character into development.
Four large lunar rock samples brought back by the Apollo 11 crew are displayed at Griffith Park Observatory. The exhibit runs through February 23 with weekday hours at 2 PM and extended weekend hours. admission is free. The display coincides with the Planetarium show New Discoveries from the Moon. Pasadena Teautiful Foundation named two new buildings the Pasadena Tilton Hole and the Rose Bowl Post Office station as major winners at its tenth annual awards banquet. Other honorees include Mobil station at 290 S Arroyo Parkway and Union Oil station at 155 Glenarm, plus Owl Rock Products plant, Las Enemnas Hospital, a junior Philharmonie summittec, Mr and Mrs Max Ai, the Green House, and Elk Lodge No 672 among others.
