White Named President of 83rd Tournament of Roses

Virgil J. White of Pasadena was elected president of the 83rd Tournament of Roses after serving as acting president following the death of John J. Cabit. The board also elected Otis Blasingham as vice president Edward Wilson as treasurer and William G. Lawson as secretary. Altadena Names Gilbert Alston to Pasadena Municipal Court

Gilbert Alston, 39, of Altadena, a former deputy district attorney, was appointed commissioner of Pasadena Municipal Court to hear civil and criminal cases. The decision by Judge Warren Ettinger followed a statewide applicant pool of over 40. Alston's start date is planned for March or April after he wraps up private practice. He is a Philadelphia native and UCLA USC Law graduate with a varied career in the Air Force and Los Angeles County offices.
