Council Approves Deleted Bill After Finance Committee Rejection
Town council last week passed two bills rejected earlier by the Finance Committee and referred a third. The bills, totaling nearly 250 dollars, related to paddy wagon repairs and lighting up the parade for The Pas Rodeo. A fourth 20 dollar bill to the Town engineer covered parade expenses disputed by some councillors.

Train Kills Worker. Man Severely Injured Near The Pas
Adam Bignell 20, of The Pas, is in critical condition at St. Anthony’s Hospital after being struck by a train near the Churchill Forestry complex. He suffered a severed left leg and multiple injuries. 50 train cars passed over him before the engine stopped. Police investigate cause and timing of the Saturday morning incident.

Pole Severed In Saturday Cathedral Avenue Crash
A utility pole near Kin Kourt on Cathedral Avenue was snapped in two when a 1969 Chevelle driven by 26 year old Randall Burton of The Pas lost control on a slight curve at 4:00 am Saturday. Burton escaped with minor injuries and was fined 150 dollars after being charged with impaired driving. Manitoba Hydro crews worked to detach wires from the broken pole and drop it safely.

August Lumber Shipments Break Record At The Pas
The Pas forestry complex lumber division shipped a record 4 013 000 million board feet in August, surpassing July. Lumber sales for August exceeded $500 000. Industry Minister Len Evans said the market remains strong and the annual planing and shipping rate tops 50 million board feet with a further rise expected.
