Ottawa reports the government wireless telegraphy system between Le Pas and Port Nelson will be in operation by Christmas. The apparatus will have the longest range in Canada and will enable the Railway department to maintain close contact with the line and traffic.
Magnificent new brick and stone buildings on the banks of the Red River in Winnipeg feature fireproof construction. The facilities include ten large ventilated classrooms, judging pavilions for stock and grain, forge and wood shops, steam and gas engineering, farm machinery labs, a home dairy, needlework, dressmaking and home nursing rooms, cooking labs, a large dining room, gymnasiums, swimming pools, a library, reading room, and sitting room.
A staff of 250 men will stay at Port Nelson all winter to pursue terminal operations. The note ends with a quoted aphorism by Elbert Hubbard about rest, love, laughter, and work.
