Buffalo herd moves from The Pas to remote wildlife areas
A wandering buffalo herd is relocated from The Pas to two separate northern Manitoba regions. Eleven animals were trucked out last week and the remainder are expected to depart this week. The 20 head group includes one bull three calves and 12 cows. Original herd from Elk Island Park in Alberta, released last October, had calves born this spring. Wildlife officers hope new sites foster free herd development away from grain fields and civilization.
