Freezer Loading Rules for Efficient Storage

Freezers with 12 cubic feet can hold about 36 pounds of frozen food per load. After loading that amount, wait 24 hours before adding more to maximize efficiency. Keep foods together in baskets or on shelves and use heavy plastic or mesh bags. The guidelines maintain zero or lower temperatures and proper food rotation for freshness.
