The Pas prepares for its 30th anniversary festival with entries closed on Monday. Participants practice solos plays spoken poetry choral reading and more for the 1965 event to be held May 10 13. The first festival in 1936 was led by Dr. R Musgrove and H Logie with a 12 person committee.
The Pas Registered Nurses Association held its March 23 meeting at Mrs. Barbara Haddon’s home. Two new members were welcomed. Reports covered film showings to 685 students and 358 adults. Plans for a Cancer Drive April 20 to 27 were finalized. Local visits included families Libbrecht and Carter attendance at Kin anniversary events.
Mesdames Morrish Booth and Col gan returned from Win nipeg after business and leisure. Mrs. Ouellette left Sunday for Winnipeg and Vancouver for extended family visits. The Hiatts head to Toronto and their friends while others travel to Swan River Moose Lake Snow Lake The Pas and Dauphin for family events and a funeral.
The Pas Figure Skating Club seeks new members for the year’s executive. An Annual General Meeting will be held upstairs in the Arena on Monday April 5 at 8 00 p.m. Parents and interested persons are urged to attend. Mr and Mrs John Melanson depart for Pine Falls where he becomes CN Railways Station Agent. They have lived in The Pas three years.
Congratulations to Gord on McGillivary and Sandra Russick for winning $5.00 each in Weston’s Lucky Loaves Contest. Bob Jackson of Hob’s Grocery won a Clock Radio. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Beck of Cranberry Portage visited friends in town last Sunday.
