Bal Ockey Night Promises Fundraising At The Pas

A lighthearted program titled Bal Ockey Night set for Saturday April at The Pas Arena will feature a broomball game between Kinsmen and Elks along with Kinettes and Royal Purple in support of the Society for Crippled Children and Adults and the Easter Seals Campaign. The event is organized by local service clubs with proceeds aiding the campaigns.

Four Margaret Barbour students win CBC Reach for the Top titles

The Pas team led by Bob Munroe Brynne Jones Rosalind Ridings and Aaron Berg won 225 to 180 against Rivers East in Winnipeg last Saturday to become Manitoba’s first rural school to win more than two Reach for the Top competitions. They advance to Winnipeg April 2 to face Grant Park Vincent Massey winner in the final flight. Principal Pat Claggett notes city teams have regular noon practice and many teams have coaches.

Town to Hire PE Student for Summer Program

The Town of The Pas will hire a first year physical education student from May 1 to September 4 at $1800. The student will coordinate a summer program of physical education and recreation in The Pas. Council approved the plan, noting expected benefit to local youth.

Swim Course Offered Here This Summer

The Passions Club sponsors a local swimming pool course for instructors. If enough candidates apply, the course will run July 12 to 16. Interested swimmers should contact the Club by writing Box 422, The Pas, before March 30. Lions officials in Winnipeg must be advised on pool inclusion.
