Log sorting crew earns 400 day safety award
The log sorting crew in the Man for Lumber Division was honored Saturday night February 28 for completing over 400 days without a loss time injury. Industrial Relations Superintendent Mike Kukoly presented the Worker's Compensation Board award and commended the team. Ted McKenna praised the crew’s families, and officials say they are on track for a second year without a loss time injury.

Norwegian skier boosts cross country enthusiasm in The Pas
Einar Thu, a ski specialist for the Norway Ski Consul and sponsored by the Canadian Cross Country Ski Association, spent two days in The Pas promoting cross country skiing. He traveled from Norway in September via the United States, where he took part in the American Birkebeiner Race in Wisconsin, a 55 kilometer event with 933 participants.

Local skaters shine at Thompson Northern Area Meet
The Pas Figure Skating Club reported strong results at the Thompson Northern Area Competitions held February 20 and 21. Eleven competitors entered ten events, earning five gold and three silver medals led by Doug Gros in Elementary Mens Singles Troy North in Pre Juvenile Mens Singles Clarence Jackson in Juvenile Mens Singles Kari Koshowski and Jennifer Cloutier in Primary Dance and Dee North and Lee in dance events.

Mervyn Ray Named Consul District Administrator
Mervyn Ray of Pierson Manitoba has been chosen as administrator for the Local Government District of Consul after six months without one. Ray returned to The Pas to take the post in February and brings prior experience as secretary-treasurer of Edwards municipality.
