Easter Seals Campaign Seeks Support Across Manitoba
The Easter Seal Fund nearing its tenth year aids Manitoba disabled children with over 3000 benefiting to date. In The Pas the drive is led by the local Kinsmen Club with seals at the mall this week and an annual Sportsmen's Dinner raising funds. Provincial chairman A B Tevendale guides the effort as F C Harrison of Winnipeg serves as 1964 president. The fund operates from the Society for Crippled Children and Adults of Manitoba in the Kinsmen Centre for the Handicapped opened last October. Shelley Saunders is named as Manitoba’s Easter Seal Tammy, chosen for the second time as the symbol of disabled children.

The Pas Council Seeks Meeting With Premier On Power Rates
The Pas Town Council opts to write Premier Duff Roblin and cabinet to arrange a meeting on cheaper power for The Pas. After Feb 22 talks with Manitoba Hydro left locals discouraged, the council also considers forming a local parks board with three citizen appointees for a three year advisory term.

Beard Contest at Trappers Festival Crowns George Henderson
At the Trappers Festival the Kinsmen beard contest named George Henderson as winner for a well balanced attractive beard. Ken Haynes of Ken's Barber Shop provided the trophy with MAC PROFIT presenting it at a Kinsmen meeting. Judges valued appearance and fit with the moose hide jacket over sheer length, and the trophy is to return annually.

Hudson Bay skip Gordon Freeden wins top honours at the Pass Round the Clock Bonspiel. They receive the Profit's Furniture Trophy and replicas plus four TV rocking chairs. Don Fisher of The Pas places second. Ed Engel's rink wins Caroll Motors event. Merchants event goes to an outside rink. Reg Robson of Snow Lake takes third in Merchants. 54 entries total with seven from Snow Lake and four from Thompson. Club President Eric Michayluk praises the turnout and thanks merchants for prizes.

Airport repairs move forward with April tenders
The Chamber was told tenders for extensive rebuilding will be placed April 21 and work may start around May 31. A February letter to the Chamber urged a government commitment as repairs to the local airport follow last July’s restriction that limited landings to DC-8 aircraft, halting Viscount and DC-4 traffic and canceling a planned shuttle service between The Pas and Flin Flon.

The Pas Bantam All Stars secured a provincial playoff final berth after a two game total point semi final against Foxwarren. They won 7 to 5 at Foxwarren and 4 to 3 at The Pas to finish 11 to 8. They will face Riverton in the finals.

Pas City sign lights up as tourist bureau plans bloom
In The Pas the King Trapper sign was turned on February 19 by John Fisher. The sign lights a 300 foot neon tube visible to northbound motorists. John Bodnar chaired the sign purchase. The local Chamber plans a permanent tourist bureau beside the sign, to operate full time from mid May to late September.
