Lifeguard Gooderich Leads Successful Swim Tests
In Winton Swimming Pool last year 98 swimmers passed tests across five classes led by Senior Lifeguard Jim Gooderich with Lynn McCoy aiding beginners. Bronze Medallions were earned by Karen Johnson Janet Hayes and Terry Buck with Louise Howe receiving her bar. The Beginners class had 45 successful entrants and Mr Gooderich is reappointed for the coming season with Florence Marteinson as assistant.

Sacred Heart School Commencement Exercises Planned
Sacred Heart High School prepares for Grade XII commencement on Friday June 8 at Cathedral of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart with a 5:30 p.m. Mass and dedication by Miss Yvette Dumas and Dale Easton. An 8 p.m. program at Gu Hall will feature Bishop JO M J as presiding, Mr Walker Streit as chair, and music by the D M Chorus and Teresa Polo 159.

Kin Court housing drive reaches seven thousand five hundred raised
The Kin Court seniors housing project seeks ten thousand locally with a total goal of one hundred thousand. Seven entries were received for a naming contest and a twenty five dollar prize will be shared by Howard Berg and Garnet Profit. Local clubs donate and pledge funds to support the government grant and CMHC aid.

Cattle Herd From Pyott Farm Found Near The Pas
Residents woke to a morning ruckus as about ninety head of Angus cattle from the Pyott farm were found in The Pas area. The herd had wintered on Indian land between the alley and the dike, west of The Pas.

Judy Yakusik Wins France Scholarship After Record Career
Judy Yakusik earned multiple scholarships and bursaries leading to a year at Sorbonne University in France for postgraduate study. A Carrot Valley native, she excelled from Carrot River School through Collegiate and university, with honors in drama and a perfect Grade XI Math score.

Elementary Schools Stage Field Day Parade
Students from three local elementary schools held a Field Day Monday with a morning parade despite a light drizzle. The Pas Elementary School was judged best marchers by a three judge panel as majorettes perform. Opaquai colors appear in group photos.
