Harry Howell and Philip Bachnik report a 209,009 dollar option on 38 Cranberry Portage area copper claims with Kenare Petroleum of Calgary. Cash payments are scheduled every six months over two years, with no stock involved.
Closing Exercises at The Pas Collegiate announced Sandra Hayes a Grade 11 student chosen as one of 120 Manitoba youths to represent the province in a pilot Centennial student exchange with Ontario Quebec New Brunswick and Newfoundland this July and August. Hayes daughter of Mr and Mrs Bert Hayes also a Gold Card Girl Guide. The announcement was made by Mr Bryant Hasker TPCL principal who received a outdoor Bar-B-Q from students as he departs The Pas for Winnipeg to teach.
Five Grade 12 students at Sacred Heart High School were honored at graduation exercises in Guy Hal. Marilyn Frechette delivered the valedictory and Elizabeth Soshycki the salutatory. June Morin led the Graduate's Prayer. Dennis Denby named class optimist. Scholarships and shields were awarded to multiple students by church and school groups.
Ron Rice is among eight Canadian Boy Scouts chosen for a July Jamborette in Scotland at Blake Athol Perthshire on the Duke of Arthol estate. The 10 day event opens July 21 with seven days hosting by Scottish Scouts and a two day Edinburgh visit. Ron leaves Montreal July 20 and later visits London with family before returning to Canada.
The Pas Music Festival Association held its annual meeting on May 25 and reported the 1964 festival as a success with 269 ene mies attendees. New officers include Honorary President Mrs Hs Fy Bickle Past President Mrs W H Harvey President Mrs G Bag shaw and Vice President Mr G Ste Yess.
The Pas Lions Club plans a Monster Bingo at The Pas Arena on Saturday June 20 starting at 8 pm. Total prizes reach 1500 with 15 games, up from 1000 earlier, last game at 1000. Advance ticket sales include a door prize of 50.
