North Quest and Dog Team Adventures of a Canadian Soldier
The author recalls harsh January travel by dog teams in The Pas with sleds and koola tang coats, joining lumber camps, and an early dog derby. He describes meeting locals, mutally learning the trade of dog driving, and his path from soldier to forest worker to constable in Manitoba, ending with reflections on writing a book about The Pas country. He notes Christmas in San Francisco, sight of 25 below in Winnipeg, and the Moon voyage news.
