Red Sky Movement Sparks Self Respect for Indians in Canada
Frank Whitehead, once a troubled youth in The Pas, now advocates the Red Sky Movement to revive traditional Indian values. He credits two years in Manitoba’s New Careers program, Dan George’s influence, and a rising community of learners with his transformation. The movement aims to restore pride, teach self respect, and encourage educated, productive lives for Indigenous people across Canada. A Cranberry Portage conference February 9 to 12, funded by government departments, will promote these aims with about twenty resource people and hundreds of participants.
