Two Youths Survive Whiteout Ordeal At Saskeram Lake
Glen Haynes and Bill Krys, both 18 from The Pas, were stranded after a nor’easter left five inches of snow and a freezing 5 below wind chill. They built a shelter, kept warm overnight, and were rescued by two bombers and a helicopter. They were treated and released with a caution to avoid such trips in storms.

Freights Collide Head On at One Junction
CNR officials at Winnipeg say the investigation continues into a head on collision between trains 925 and 934 at One Junction. No injuries were reported and traffic is back to normal. Five locomotives derailed but stayed upright. The accident was reported at 4 PM.

Debarker Fatally Injures One At Pulp Paper Plant
A C F I Woodroom worker Winston Patten age 21 died after an accident on Friday night at the Log sorting deck in the Woodroom Barking Drum area. Co workers found him and he was pronounced dead on arrival at St Anthony's Hospital. RCMP and Workmen's Compensation Board investigate with one autopsy ordered. Patten is survived by a Newfoundland family and relatives in The Pas and Corner Brook.

Town of The Pas Receives PEP Grant for 13800
The Pas gets a Manitoba Government PEP grant of 13 800 dollars announced by Municipal Affairs Minister Howard Pawley.
